SESSION 17: Nanomaterials Applied to Biomedical Applications and Nanomedicine.

Symposium Polymer derived ceramics

Metallic nanoparticles with diameter ranging from 2 to 100nm have received extensive attention during the past decades due to their high potential applications such as catalysis, biomedical, antibacterial coating and cancer therapy for noble-metal nanoparticles. The main interest in metal nanoparticles comes from their unique chemical and electronic properties due to their large surface-to-volume ratio. The aim of the session is to discuss the key areas involving nanomaterials in biomedical applications and nanomedicine. Development and usage of nanomaterials in these fields has grown exponentially during the last decade, more specifically with the development of green syntheses based on plant extracts. New nanomaterials are developed for areas where conventional materials cannot be applied like new nanocomposites for bones tissues regeneration, targeted drug delivery, cancer treatment, but also antibacterial coating due to the development of multi-drug resistant microorganisms…

This session will provide an open forum for researchers from around the world to discuss their investigations performed on nanomaterials applied to biomedical applications, i.e. antibacterial treatments, antifungal treatments, water purification, cancer treatment, targeted drug delivery...
